AOTD: “Tips For Artists Who Want To Sell (New And Unimproved)”

Another striking gem by William Powhida.

Pleasant big fuck you to all the superficial art buying rich of the world. I especially enjoy rule 9.  : “Do not get specific. They hate that shit.”  continuing to rule 10: “Unless you’re dealing with celebrities!”

It just pretty ironic how Powhida’s work is centered on ridiculing the collectors who’re probably buying a lot of stuff from him (I don’t really know, but I guess). He’s like a comedian whose success derives from his fine ability of mocking his paying audience.

Artwork / Artist of the day / week (26) / whatever

STO

Actually I don’t even know if this is supposed to be “artwork” or just this guy having fun while trying to get to some artfair in Miami. Nevertheless, the best work/picture I’ve seen for a while. I don’t know the actual name of the guy but his artist name is STO and in his own words makes “retarded paper mache sculptures”. Just how sweet is that! Refreshing! Fun! I guess I enjoy mostly the way he seems as he doesn’t take him seriously in any level. Or maybe he’s just concentrating on having fun. Or whatever. Anyways, I’m kinda envious on that.

How I managed to find this gem of an artist? Well, first googled “huge painting” and then just stumbled to his blog through the picture search results.

You can check his retarded paper mache sculptures and actually pretty wicked paintings from his website.

Healing time

New progress…

One relatively small, almost finished (couple of details and some smoothing on the background) painting: “Kokko” (Bonfire)

Another little bit bigger (about 30cmx45cm) called “Valuma” (Meltdown)
